Empathy Squad *VIRTUAL* Training Audio Storytellers and Podcast Creators

Description: Gather Oral Histories to Foster Empathy and Build your Podcasting Skills. Volunteer Opportunity (Future Leaders aged 18-30 years) The Empathy Squad is now accepting applications for our Winter 2023 cohorts.   Cohorts 13 & 14 will run January to March 2023.  Approximately 12 hours a week of commitment for 12 weeks total. The training program is virtual, and open to applicants across Canada. Oral storytelling forges connections between people and ideas, makes information more accessible, and helps us understand the ties that bind us. Oral history nuances the stories of the past and present, helps us understand how communities experience history, and allows us to learn together on the path towards a shared future. Amplify voices, centre overlooked stories, and celebrate the unsung heroes in your community. Wheels of Hope volunteer drivers needed

Description: Do you like to drive? Do you enjoy helping others?  WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR You understand that cancer can change everything and you want to help people in your community get access to their Cancer treatment. You are ready to do your best to make a client’s ride to treatment one less thing they have to worry about, allowing them the space and focus to handle their journey in their own way. You are comfortable using online tools, like email and our scheduling software and you have a  valid  driver’s license with 3 or fewer demerit points. Your vehicle is 100% smoke-free, willing to undergo a criminal records check and be at least double vaccinated for Covid19. You are required to wear a mask while transporting your client. OUR INVESTMENT As an organization we will provide you with training and support to prepare you for this important role. You will be supported by a Transportation Coordinator, who will be providing your driving schedule and be there to help you throughout your time on the road. You will be part of the larger Wheels of Hope team, including over 1600 volunteer drivers and many staff who share your desire to help as many people as possible get to their treatments. YOUR COMMITMENT This is an important leadership role. We ask that you dedicate at minimum a half day to one day weekly, although we are able to accommodate those able to give a few days a month. You agree to initiate and respond with regular, consistent communication between the Transportation Coordinator and the clients you are scheduled to drive. * As a volunteer, you are a representative and ambassador who promotes the mission and values of the organization.
