Glow YXE - Coat Check

Description: What is Glow? Glow is a family-friendly indoor holiday light festival, market and food fair with live entertainment. It’s the perfect way to celebrate the holidays with the ones you love. Walk through our twinkling light gardens, take photos in illuminated frames and say hello to Santa Claus. It’s all waiting for you at Glow Saskatoon!  You would be responsible for taking care of the coat check during the event. Shifts are 3-4 hours. The Volunteer Coordinator will work closely with the team at MS Canada to ensure we have support from a fantastic group of Day of Event Volunteers. You will have the opportunity to connect with your local community to recruit enough volunteers to fill various volunteer roles and instruct them on event day.   Responsibilities   Identify the volunteer positions needed, as well as the required number of volunteers required to successfully execute the local Walk plan   Recruit Event Day Volunteers with the support of the MS Canada Volunteer Experience team to ensure there are enough volunteers to support the event   Assign volunteers to various volunteer roles based on their interests and strengths   Clearly communicate to each volunteer their role, responsibilities, start/end times before the event weekend  Ensure that all volunteers check in, then report to their lead for instruction and support  Recognize volunteers for their contributions on the day and post-event   Be agile on event day, track volunteer’s activities during the event and reposition volunteers as needed to provide the best coverage   Champion the Walk in your community by promoting the event and helping to recruit participants and day-of-event volunteers   Interested? As the local route expert, your advance planning and event day execution will ensure a fabulous event experience for all Walk participants.   Responsibilities    Plan the route, required route signage and set-up locations, rest stop location(s), and route marshal requirements as applicable   Assist in the development of a route map   Work with MS Walk Coordinator to get appropriate municipal permits   Determine route safety requirements (i.e. possible road closures, traffic control requirements, Route Marshal placement, route emergency response plan, etc.) based on municipal event requirements, participant numbers, and direction from local law enforcement as needed   Provide Route Marshal and Rest Stop volunteer briefings and support the volunteers on the event day    Ensure the route signage and rest stops are set up on event day and all volunteers are in place at the start of the event   Champion the Walk in your community by promoting the event and helping to recruit participants and day-of-event volunteers     Interested? Description: Join us in the exhilarating City Nature Challenge, an international event celebrating urban biodiversity! We are seeking passionate volunteers to document flora and fauna in the City of Saskatoon and area from April 26 to April 29, 2024, using the free iNaturalist app on your smartphone. Whether you're an avid nature enthusiast, a casual observer, a classroom, group or a family looking for a unique adventure, this is your chance to make a meaningful contribution to the global understanding of urban wildlife. Your observations helps to protect species of concern, and also assist in early detection and rapid response for invasive species! You will help scientists understand species who are expanding their habitat range. Your assistance greatly supports efforts in creating master plans for the City of Saskatoon and area, and the woodlands, wetlands, and grasslands areas!
