Youth Empowering Parents ([VIRTUAL] USE $500 TO CREATE YOUR OWN VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITY)

• Appropriate for youth (i.e., less than 18)
• Appropriate for volunteers aged between 18 and 55

This program is an opportunity for you to gain leadership skills, run a project of your choosing, receive valuable experience for post-secondary applications, or get volunteer hours. This is open for youths, ages 15-30 years old. Here’s what you will do:  Identify a need/issue in your community and organize a project that will address that need/issue. You will also receive a grant of up to $500 (or more, depending on your project details) to fund your project. You can run a basketball tournament to bring youth together and promote physical exercise, you can host a video game night to help others destress, you can start a community library box to encourage reading, or you can do just about anything else you can think of. (www.youthfund.ca/ideas) Learn from different workshops and 1-on-1 coaching to help you plan your project and gain useful skills (e.g. project planning, budgeting, etc.). Here’s how you will benefit:  Develop project management skills Gain volunteer hours Get a certificate of recognition and reference letter Learn and/or improve your skillset (like identifying community issues, budgeting, marketing, public speaking, evaluation) A chance to make a positive difference in your community! Program schedule: We have 2 different online cohorts running in August. Please choose the week that works best for you. If you are only available in September, register anyway and we’ll get back to you.
