This program is an opportunity for you to gain leadership skills, run a project of your choosing, receive valuable experience for post-secondary applications, or get volunteer hours. This is open for youths, ages 15-30 years old. Here’s what you will do: Identify a need/issue in your community and organize a project that will address that need/issue. You will also receive a grant of up to $500 (or more, depending on your project details) to fund your project. You can run a basketball tournament to bring youth together and promote physical exercise, you can host a video game night to help others destress, you can start a community library box to encourage reading, or you can do just about anything else you can think of. (www.youthfund.ca/ideas) Learn from different workshops and 1-on-1 coaching to help you plan your project and gain useful skills (e.g. project planning, budgeting, etc.). Here’s how you will benefit: Develop project management skills Gain volunteer hours Get a certificate of recognition and reference letter Learn and/or improve your skillset (like identifying community issues, budgeting, marketing, public speaking, evaluation) A chance to make a positive difference in your community! Program schedule: We have 2 different online cohorts running in August. Please choose the week that works best for you. If you are only available in September, register anyway and we’ll get back to you. August 12, 2024 to August 16, 2024 (online – Zoom), Daily, from 3 pm – 5 pm EST August 19, 2024 to August 23, 2024 (online – Zoom), Daily, from 12 pm – 2 pm EST *Program space is limited.
