We invite you to become a board member for our non-profit environmental charity, dedicated to protecting and promoting Saskatoon’s two hidden green space gems – the Richard St. Barbe Baker Afforestation Area and George Genereux Urban Regional Park.ย ย  Promote Equity, Conservation, and Community Engagement in Saskatoon’s Hidden Gems! As a board member, you will play a crucial role in shaping the future of these naturalized green spaces, ensuring they become welcoming and inviting for all equity-deserving groups. But that’s not all! Here’s what being a board member entails: ๐ŸŒ Duties of a Board Member may include the following: Attend board meetings and actively contribute to decision-making processes. Plan and organize events, such as educational tours and fair booths, to raise awareness about the afforestation areas and their unique geology, history, and heritage. Serve as a grant writer, securing funding to support our initiatives and conservation efforts. Assist in fundraising events and campaigns to ensure the sustainability of our organization. Help develop educational and awareness materials, promoting the physical and mental health benefits of forests, nature, wetlands, and trees. Advocate for inclusivity and equality, breaking down systemic barriers that prevent equity-deserving groups from enjoying these green spaces.
