Opportunity Description:

The Friends of the Saskatoon Afforestation Areas Inc. engage in those environmental protection, interpretation, and education programming prospects and endeavours which increase public awareness, community support, and increased knowledge around the natural environment, the rich and diverse heritage, and place-based learning opportunities in the Saskatoon afforestation areas. We provide environmental learning and experiences to connect the afforestation area user and visitor to the natural, geological, water-based, cultural, scientific, geographical, historical heritage. The Saskatoon Afforestation Areas include George Genereux Urban Regional Park and Richard St. Barbe Baker Afforestation Area.  During these uncertain times, board meetings are held virtually over Zoom.   The community sector outlines the duties of a board member as follows: “Understand and demonstrate a commitment to the organization’s mission and programs Keep up to date with issues and trends that affect the organization Prepare for meetings by reading agendas, minutes, reports and other documentation required to actively participate in them Attend meetings regularly Contribute skills and knowledge by participating actively in meetings and committee work Make inquiries when clarification or more information is needed Understand and monitor the organization’s financial affairs Avoid any potential conflicts of interest Understand and maintain confidentiality Ensure the organization is complying with all legal and regulatory requirements”
